Dragon Saab are proud to announce our first event of 2016 ‘The Dragon Saab Spring Roll’

Building on the success of the previous two years events we hope this event will attract even more cars and Saab fans, Let’s try and beat our 2015 record of 24 cars!

A one day event the ‘Spring Roll’ is a tour of the Vale of Glamorgan, South Wales. The day starts with those attending meeting at Cardiff West motorway services M4 Junction 33. We will be meeting at 9.00am to leave 9.30am.

Leaving the services we travel in convoy along the A4232 to Cardiff Bay. At Cardiff Bay we have special permission to cross over Cardiff barrage in convoy. This will be a unique experience as the barrage is closed to all other vehicles so it will be exclusively Saab’s on the 1.1km road to our very own parking area. This area has fantastic 360 degree views of Cardiff Bay and Penarth. It will be a great photo opportunity!

From our Saab exclusive parking area we have chartered a cruise boat to pick us up from the Harbour Authority Pier to take those wishing to participate from the bay marina along the River Taff passing the Millennium Stadium before disembarking at the grounds of Cardiff Castle in the centre of Cardiff. In the grounds of Cardiff Castle we take midday refreshments at Pettigrew Tea Rooms http://www.pettigrew-tearooms.com/ originally a gate house to the Cardiff Castle. Those not wishing to take refreshments can explore the Bute Park and the grounds of Cardiff Castle. Once suitably refreshed its back onto our charter and back to the bay to return to our Saab exclusive parking.

If the boat trip is not for you, you can cross on foot to Cardiff Bay where there are many outlets where refreshments can be purchased. Alternatively, if anyone wishes to stay at the car park with the vehicles this is absolutely fine. We do advise that you bring a warm windproof jacket and jumper as it can get very windy at the barrage.

Back into the cars we continue our tour back across the barrage. Leaving Cardiff Bay we then pick up the run which will take us through the Vale of Glamorgan where we travel along the coastline of the Severn estuary and Jurassic coastline. Along the route there will be many points of interest including, Penarth seafront with its impressive art deco pier and St Athan RAF base originally a WWII base; our penultimate stop will be at Ogmore beach which has stunning views of the Merthyr Mawr.

The day’s event will finish with a late lunch at the Aubrey Arms, A traditional country pub with excellent food and fine local Ales.

The Spring Roll is free to attend but those wishing to attend are required to register by emailing Chris Redmond
