The first unit for retail of the Saab 9-4X Crossover has left the assembly line plant in Ramos Arizpe in Mexico.

The President and CEO of Saab, Jan Åke Jonsson, was present at the start of regular production, only three months after the global launch of the 9-4X Motor Show Los Angeles, and has been accompanied by Executive Director Vehicle Line, Anders Svensson, and Product Manager of the 9-4X, Mikael Jacobsson.

The first vehicle with the chassis # 00001 is an Aero in Metallic Ice Pearl with an 2.8 V6 engine and will go to a media presentation in the United States before being sent to Sweden for display at the Saab museum.

“This is a great day for Saab,” said Jonsson. “The arrival of the 9-4X is another important step in developing our business plan. This car, sporty and distinctive, we can significantly expand the appeal of our brand and gives us access to a new market segment of vigorous growth, specially in America. ”

With the advanced XWD all-wheel drive and adaptive chassis control, the 9-4X will begin marketing in the United States in May. In Europe and other global markets, sales are scheduled from August.
