As in previous years we all meet up for a scenic drive to (or
should that be boarding) the SS Great Britain, in Bristol’s
historic docks. Brunel’s SS Great Britain is one of the most
important ships in the world. When she was launched in 1843
she was called ‘the greatest experiment since the Creation’. By
combining size, power and innovative technology, Brunel
created a ship that changed history. His vision for the SS Great
Britain made her the great-great-grandmother for all modern
ships. Allow two to three hours to ensure you see everything.
When we arrive, before we board, you can visit the
Harbourside Kitchen, located alongside Brunel’s SS Great
Britain which offers superb views onto the ship as well as
across Bristol’s historic floating harbour. You can enjoy
delicious light meals, snacks and drinks throughout the day;
soak up the atmosphere on the waterfront terrace
or sit inside literally watching the world sail by.
Should you wish to board the ship, a special discount
price applies.
Adult: 18-65 years £12.50 (original price £16.50).
Concession: Senior 65 years and over and Student 17 years
and over £11.00 (original price £14.50).

Companion or Assistant: Accompanying a paying visitor
who is disabled – free.
An organised guided tour will be arranged which takes
about one hour. The cost will be approximately £1.00- £2.00
per person, depending on numbers.
You will also receive, as part of our group, a 10% discount
on items purchased in the shop.
Parking at the pay and display car park is only a few metres
away from the ship. As visitors to Brunel’s SS Great Britain
you will receive reduced rates. It is recommended visitors
pay for the maximum stay possible and redeem their
voucher in the Visitor Centre. For example: five hours –
originally £5.00 – discount £3.00 – you pay £2.00
Around mid-afternoon we will again take a 30 minute drive
around the local area arriving for Sunday lunch at The
Failand Inn, a family run pub, on the outskirts of Bristol.
