The meeting will be held in Herrington Country Park, Penshaw, Near Sunderland, DH4 7EL.
This is the sixth year that the meeting will have been held and the number of cars attending last year was another record, exceeding 50 cars for the first time.
One of the largest parks in Sunderland, with walks, cycle trails, an adventure play area and lake. This is a truly picturesque venue with the park being alongside Penshaw Monument (DH4 7NJ). The park has developed into a significant home of wildlife, hosting over 100 species of birds. Get some stunning views from the 70 foot high Monument at the top of Penshaw Hill. The Monument was built in 1844 and is a half size replica of the Temple of Hephaestus in Athens and can be seen from miles around. You can climb to the very top of Penshaw Monument up the spiral staircase hidden inside one of the monument pillars.
Bookings can be made via the National Trust website. The cost is £5 per person or free to National Trust members. Pay on the day is normally available. There are two cafes in the nearby vicinity, one in the park adjacent to where we park and a cafe at the Penshaw Garden Centre situated about 400 metres from the Monument. The meeting will commence from 10.30am and the cars usually remain in the park until late afternoon.
