NEW SOC GB Logo Small

Berks, Hants, Oxon SAAB is a relatively new local group that has high hopes for the future.  We currently meet on a bi-monthly basis but we also gather on occasion between these meets to attend special events or as demand dictates.  There are is a core group of members that attend regularly and other members attend when they are able to.  Our members range from young to old and from former Saab master technicians, current independent Saab mechanics or long term enthusiasts right through to the inexperienced but enthusiastic!

We are friendly, welcoming and enjoy meeting new Saabers!  We often find that we have good attendance to meetings and we are really pleased to say that this group has expanded dramatically over the last few years from a position where there was no local group to having dedicated members who travel far and wide to support the SOC.  The Berks, Hants, Oxon group recently organised a convoy to the 2016 Saab National hosted by Dragon Saab in Pembrey, Wales and, previously, another convoy to the 2016 Swedish Day near Crewkerne in the South West.  On 25th September 2016 we have organised a photo opportunity in the grounds of Blenheim Palace that looks to be very popular and we hope to be able to promote the Saab brand to a wider audience on that day and by visiting other venues around our local area in future.

We are always looking for new members or visitors and would welcome any ideas that people may have about events to attend, places to visit or general things to do as a group.  We often meet at the Packhorse pub (RG4 7UG) in South Oxfordshire as this is fairly central to our area and a typical standard meet generally involves members having a bite to eat, a drink, good quality conversation and plenty of cars to look at of course!

Notices of meetings are also posted on the this website, on www.UKSaabs.co.uk or available from Rob Whitby This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..  We look forward to meeting you soon!

My name is Alex Rankin, and along with Robin Morley we belong to SouthWestSaab.

We are a small but friendly group that meet once a month at Coopers Mill, a nice pub in the Centre of Yeovil that serves a great pint and good food.

It is from this hostelry, that we plan our yearly events and get togethers.  In the past we have enjoyed many Easter treasure hunts along with days out to various attractions in the Somerset, Dorest, And Devon areas.

One of our most enjoyable events was to run a ‘convertible challenge’ from Yeovil to Stourhead, where our members enjoyed the beauty of this excellent National trust property.  We have enjoyed many days out visiting some of the most beautiful gardens the southwest has to offer and have even visited the Tank museum at Bovington and have driven JCB diggers at Diggerland in Devon.

We are always looking for new members to join our happy band of Saab enthusiasts so if you fancy a day out keep a close eye on what we get up to!

Ebor Saab Scottish Mystery Weekend May 2019

ebor saab scottish mystery weekend may 2019 1 20190529 190050204414 Ebor Saab members set off on Friday 10 May to make their separate ways to the assembly point at Gretna Green for what was billed as a Scottish Mystery Weekend, the mystery being only the organisers knew the itinerary. The mystery began to unfold on Saturday morning with a drive along gloriously empty roads under blue skies up into rural Scotland to visit the Kagyu Samye Ling Tibetan Temple at Eskdalemuir (nobody expected a visit the foothills of the Himalayas).

North of Scotland

There is no formal Branch currently in operation (largely as a result of the sheer geographical spread of members across this area) and therefore no regular meetings.
Where possible, there is usually an  SOC 'presence' at gatherings across the region organised by other clubs, motor museums or advertised on web forums (principally UKSaabs).

The dates known so far for 2020 at which we aim to be represented are:

  • 26th Apr           FBHVC 'Drive It Day' 2020  - various local runs (I'll be attending the one organised by the Highland Classic Motor Club, Inverness)
  • 9th May            Inverness Classic Vehicle Show - on the streets of Inverness with Parade finale led by pipe band
  • 10th May         Grampian Transport Museum, Alford, Aberdeenshire - "How Many Left" event for 'nearly classic' vehicles with fewer than 500 examples on the road
  • 23rd May         Rotary Club of East Sutherland Classic Car Tour, Dornoch
  • 11/12th Jul      46th Scottish Transport Extravaganza, Glamis Castle, Angus (see UKSaabs forum for details)
  • 9th Aug            Historic Wheels Vintage Car Rally, Brodie Castle, Morayshire
  • 31st Aug          Fortrose & Rosemarkie Classic Vehicle Rally, Fortrose, Ross-shire.
  • 6th Sept           Motor Mania, Grantown on Spey.
  • 19th Sept         'Wheels of Nairn', Nairn Links
  • Early Dec          Joint SOC/UKSaabs Christmas Gathering - date and venue TBC (see UKSaabs forum for details)
